Hello, I’m Ines
I'm a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Lisboa, Portugal.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn't part of our long-range plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much larger.
The first months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
Cultural adjustment, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the job defined this phase. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built North Wind Echo
Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to close that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on insights from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A paid review platform
- Or a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Portugal continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisboa or anywhere in Portugal, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Ines
